A Meeting on Our Conservation
Area and Listed Buildings
Richard.Callender@eastdunbarton.gov.uk
a planner in the EDC held an Extraordinary Meeting on Wednesday
June 14th 2006 in the church hall in cooperation with us. The meeting
was not a community council meeting it was a public meeting
under the provisions of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation
Areas) (Scotland) Acts 1997.
The meeting was very well attended, twice as many came to ours
as bothered in Milngavie.
Richard is in the process of completing survey work and finalising
a draft appraisal for the various conservation and townscape protection
areas in Bardowie, Balmore and Baldernock. See a map
of these areas here. This is part of a larger project on the
whole East Dunbartonshire Local Plan. The current 5 year plan was
approved last February so now preparatory work has begun on the
next 5 year plan. See a beautiful document with the gist of his
proposals here. This is a very large document and really only
accessible to those of you with broadband. The secretary will eMail
you a copy if you wish.
Members were inpressed and supportive of the ideas for Baldernock,
but were most concerned by the exclusion of Balmore and the developments
there, particularly the water works.
