Apple fuels ltd are Glasgow's first registered
commercial producers of Biodiesel. Biodiesel is a product derived
from vegetable oil and can be used in nearly all diesel vehicles
with no need for any modification.
Biodiesel is carbon neutral as the amount of CO2
released by your exhaust is equal to that absorbed from the
environment as the original plant grew. Biodiesel combustion
does not release sulphur or other harmful oxides associated
with ordinary diesel either. Apple fuels use only reclaimed
waste vegetable oil, they do not use any new oil or palm oil
in the production of their fuel and all waste products produced
in the process are recycled. Their Biodiesel is dry washed,
polished and filtered to 1 micron ( normal forecourt mineral
Diesel is approx. 15 microns) , PH neutral. The picture below
is an actual sample of the biodiesel we produce. Overall, this
ensures it is a winner for the environment as well as a winner
for your pocket. At 82p a litre, the average tank full works
out at around £10 cheaper than even the cheapest supermarket
sourced diesel. In addition, biodiesel has better lubrication
qualities than mineral diesel and this has been shown to extend
the life of fuel system components and reduces engine wear.
Apple fuels have been practising what they preach
and have been running all their vehicles on Biodiesel for the
last 6 months and a Glasgow Black Hackney which is believed
to be the only Black Cab in Glasgow running on 100% environmentally
friendly Biodiesel. At leat 3 motorists in Baldernock are already
enjoying this new fuel.
